Questions

Common questions, answered

What does a visual structural survey involve?

An experienced engineer inspects the accessible parts of the structure, assesses its condition and identifies defects and risks, then provides a clear, detailed report with practical recommendations.

I have cracks appearing, is it subsidence?

Not always. Our subsidence and movement surveys investigate the cracking, assess whether it is settlement, heave or something minor, and advise honestly on repairs and monitoring rather than jumping to underpinning.

Do you do surveys before I buy a property?

Yes. A pre-purchase structural survey highlights visible defects, potential repair costs and risks, so you can make an informed decision before you commit.

Are your surveys impartial?

Yes. As a member of Local Surveyors Direct and a RICS regulated local surveyor, our assessments are independent and impartial, giving you advice you can trust.

What is a Schedule of Condition?

It is a detailed photographic record of a property’s condition, prepared before construction or nearby works, to help prevent and resolve future disputes.
